Literature Text

I used to wonder every night
Would you come back safe to me
And you would hold me in your arms
And say, “Baby, this is who I have to be”

Until that night of no return
When I felt the bond between us sever
As he stole the only thing I truly had
And I heard you’re last whispered words of forever

Bloody heart, bloody hands,
in the black of night
Bloody mind, bloody tears,
and bloody knife
Bloody screams,
pierced the silence as he died
A sea of red against a backlit sky

All I know of the blade, you tought me
But without your presence at my side
I chased him blindly through the alleys
Oblivious to all the tears I cried

My only thoughts were for revenge
With no room for any other
But as I slit his throat I realized
This man might be beloved of another

Bloody heart, bloody hands,
in the black of night
Bloody mind, bloody tears,
and bloody knife
Bloody screams,
pierced the silence as he died
A sea of red against a backlit sky
This piece is kinda half song/half poem at the moment. I've gota tune for the chorus and the first half of the first verse, but after that it sort of dies.

It's from the point of view of Damian, a character of mine from a comic I will probably never draw. His lover Leon, a black market weapons dealer, was murdered one night by one of his clients, and Damian returned the favor. Damian had never killed before and he never really got over the guilt or Leon's death. The two of them had been very close; they had had a remarkablely sappy "true love" thing happening since Leon had taken him under his wing when Damian's parents threw him out at 14.

The rhyming scheme is nice in the first too stanza's. One thing i'd work on in this piece is maybe the chorus a bit. The format you wrote it needs to show more continuity or something. Otherwise, another nice poem. Thumbs Up
